Study, study, study before you ever take on your own job.I would recommend at least being a helper/laborer at a company for at least 1 yearbefore thinking about doing a roof by yourself. There are a lot of tricks of the trade that you won't find in manuals or even online.I guess you could find what you need to know in this forum. It would still take a lot oftime researching the posts and I would still take some time being a helper/laborer first.

i can understand getting stuff for customers is more difficult rather than roofing. but it is also a part of service, so can't be ignored.providing stuff is also part of my service.my last week was good with roofing work.

Yes, jumping right in with little to no knowledge sets you up for making costly mistakes. Be sure to read everything you can and watch it be done. Watch a good 10 roofs being done before stepping in. Start small and learn as you.

My first job went pretty good. I was a little unorganized and nervous but I have a good experienced crew so it went pretty good.

Thank you both for your advice. I am looking forward to working in 2015. I am going to have a lot going on and it is always exciting to be doing something new, specially for a new year. haha
